The Story Behind KorinTao

Every restaurant begins with a recipe.

KorinTao began with a journey.

Long before KorinTao opened its doors in Lucknow, we were simply travelers with a passion for discovering new cultures through food. Wherever we went, one thing remained constant: we explored local cuisine before anything else.

Food has always been one of the most authentic ways to understand a culture.

You can learn about a country through books, videos, and history, but you truly begin to understand its people when you sit down and share the meals they eat every day.

Discovering Korean Food Beyond Korea

Our journey took us across multiple countries in Asia and the Middle East.

We traveled through South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Dubai.

Along the way, we discovered something fascinating.

No matter where we traveled, Korean food had already arrived.

In bustling shopping districts of Seoul, modern malls in Singapore, food streets in Bangkok, Korean cafés in Manila, restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, and dining destinations in Dubai, Korean cuisine had become a global phenomenon.

But something else caught our attention.

Every country embraced Korean food in its own way.

Some restaurants served richer broths.

Some preferred stronger spices.

Some focused on noodle dishes.

Others became famous for dumplings, hot pots, and rice bowls.

The foundation remained Korean, but local cultures added their own identity.

That realization would later become one of the guiding principles behind KorinTao.

More Than Just K-Dramas and K-Pop

Many people discover Korean food through K-dramas and K-pop.

We certainly noticed how entertainment introduced millions of people to Korean culture.

But after spending time exploring Korean cuisine across different countries, we realized that Korean food had earned its popularity for a much deeper reason.

It is comforting.

A warm bowl of soup after a long day.

Fresh noodles served in a flavorful broth.

Dumplings shared among friends and family.

A hot pot enjoyed together at the table.

These experiences feel familiar no matter where you come from.

In many ways, Korean food shares the same spirit that Indians associate with home-cooked meals.

Bringing Korean Flavours to India

When we returned to India, one question stayed with us.

Could we create a Korean-inspired dining experience that remained authentic to Korean food culture while also appealing to Indian taste preferences?

We knew the answer would not be simple.

Indian food lovers appreciate bold flavors, warmth, spices, and variety.

At the same time, we wanted to preserve the soul of Korean comfort food.

Rather than rushing into opening a restaurant, we began a long period of research and development.

Months of Experimentation

For months, our kitchen became a testing ground.

We experimented with:

Every recipe was prepared repeatedly.

Every bowl was tasted, adjusted, and refined.

We wanted dishes that respected Korean culinary traditions while feeling approachable to Indian guests.

Some recipes took dozens of attempts before they reached the standard we expected.

Others evolved naturally as we blended inspiration from our travels with local preferences.

Why We Chose a Vegetarian Concept

One of our biggest decisions was choosing to build KorinTao as a vegetarian restaurant.

This was not simply a business decision.

It was an opportunity to make Korean-inspired food accessible to a wider audience in India.

Instead of viewing vegetarian cuisine as a limitation, we treated it as a creative challenge.

How could we create rich broths?

How could we deliver deep umami flavors?

How could we preserve the comforting experience that Korean food is known for?

The answer came through vegetables, mushrooms, fermentation, traditional seasonings, and countless hours of experimentation.

Today, KorinTao proudly serves Korean-inspired comfort food in a completely vegetarian format.

The Birth of KorinTao

After months of research, travel, experimentation, and planning, KorinTao was born.

Our vision was simple:

To create a place where people in Lucknow could experience the warmth, comfort, and flavors of Korean-inspired cuisine through handmade noodles, nourishing soups, dumplings, hot pots, rice bowls, and traditional side dishes.

We wanted every guest to feel the same excitement we felt while exploring Korean food across different countries.

Our Journey Continues

KorinTao is more than a restaurant.

It is the result of years of travel, curiosity, learning, and passion for food.

Every bowl we serve reflects a journey that began thousands of kilometers away and eventually found its home in Lucknow.
